MISSION STATEMENT
To create a compassionate living environment for people and animals through animal rescue, adoption and humane education. |
Several people have approached members of the Board with possible cases of neglect or abuse of animals. These situations fall under the jurisdiction of local police departments. If in an incorporated area, they have an animal control officer, or the county sheriff if outside city limits. The Humane Society has no authority or jurisdiction in this type of situation. The closest SPCA is in St. Louis and it is doubtful they could make a timely intervention from there, so speak with the animal control officer - that's their job and they will evaluate and take necessary steps to correct the problem.
